1812 - born in Portsmouth
1815 - his family moved to London
1817 - his family moved to Chatham in Kent
1823 - moved to Camden in London
1833 - his first story published
1836 - a first novel published 
1836 - married with Catherine Hogarth 
1838 - wrote Oliver Twist
1842 - visited USA
1850 -  started a weekly magazine called Household Words
1858 - separated from his wife
1866 - visited the USA again
1970 - died

Turning Points

  •  job in a boot blacking factory
  • leave the blacking factory and return to school
  •  left school at the age of 15 and he started work in a solicitors office
  •  married a woman named Catherine 
  • Charles and Catherine separated in 1858


Achievements

  •   became a journalist at age of 16
  •  the first story published in a periodical Monthly Magazine
  • the first novel published( The Pickwick Papers)
  • Dickens wrote many novels
